Improve Your English Pronunciation in 5 Minutes (Verbessern Sie Ihre englische Aussprache in 5 Minuten)

A short daily routine for clearer sounds, stronger rhythm and more confident speech. (Eine kurze tägliche Übung für deutlichere Laute, einen besseren Rhythmus und selbstbewussteres Sprechen.)

Five focused minutes can make a difference (Fünf konzentrierte Minuten können etwas bewirken)

You do not need a long pronunciation lesson every day. You need a small number of useful movements and sound patterns that you repeat carefully. This routine trains your mouth, ears and attention together.

(Sie brauchen nicht jeden Tag eine lange Aussprachelektion. Sie brauchen einige nützliche Bewegungen und Klangmuster, die Sie aufmerksam wiederholen. Diese Routine trainiert Mund, Gehör und Aufmerksamkeit gemeinsam.)

Important: The aim is not to lose your accent. The aim is to make your English easier to understand and more comfortable to speak. (Wichtig: Das Ziel ist nicht, Ihren Akzent zu verlieren. Ihr Englisch soll leichter verständlich und angenehmer zu sprechen sein.)

Your five-minute pronunciation routine (Ihre fünfminütige Aussprache-Routine)

1 Minute 1

Release and breathe (Lockern und atmen)

Relax your jaw and shoulders. Breathe out slowly on ssss, then on zzzz.

ssss → zzzz

2 Minute 2

Wake up the mouth (Den Mund aktivieren)

Move clearly between long and short vowel shapes. Do not rush.

ship – sheep
full – fool

3 Minute 3

Mark word stress (Wortbetonung markieren)

Make the stressed syllable longer, clearer and slightly stronger.

PREsent
preSENT

4 Minute 4

Build the rhythm (Den Rhythmus aufbauen)

Stress the important words. Reduce the small grammar words between them.

SEND it to JOHN.

5 Minute 5

Shadow one sentence (Einen Satz nachsprechen)

Listen, pause and copy the whole musical shape—not only the individual words.

Could you SEND it to me?

Sound natural: stress less, not more (Natürlich klingen: weniger statt mehr betonen)

Clear English does not mean pronouncing every word with equal force. Content words usually carry the message; smaller grammar words often become shorter and quieter.

(Deutliches Englisch bedeutet nicht, jedes Wort gleich stark auszusprechen. Inhaltswörter tragen meist die Aussage; kleinere Grammatikwörter werden häufig kürzer und leiser.)

I NEED to FINISH it by FRIDAY.

Keep the three message words strong.

(Betonen Sie die drei Wörter, die die Hauptinformation tragen.)

Could you SEND it to MARIA?

Let “could you” and “it to” become lighter.

(Sprechen Sie „could you“ und „it to“ schwächer und kürzer.)

Quick practice: say it before you look (Kurze Übung: Erst sprechen, dann nachsehen)

Read each sentence aloud. Decide which words should be strongest, then reveal the suggested pattern.

(Lesen Sie jeden Satz laut. Entscheiden Sie, welche Wörter am stärksten betont werden, und zeigen Sie danach das vorgeschlagene Muster an.)

1. I’ll call you tomorrow morning.

(Ich rufe Sie morgen früh an.)

I’ll CALL you tomorrow MORNING.

2. We need to change the meeting.

(Wir müssen den Besprechungstermin ändern.)

We NEED to CHANGE the MEETING.

3. Can you send me the details?

(Können Sie mir die Einzelheiten schicken?)

Can you SEND me the DETAILS?

4. The train leaves at seven.

(Der Zug fährt um sieben Uhr ab.)

The TRAIN leaves at SEVEN.

How to make the routine work (So funktioniert die Routine)

  • Practise aloud, not only in your head.(Üben Sie laut, nicht nur im Kopf.)
  • Use one short recording as a model.(Nutzen Sie eine kurze Aufnahme als Vorbild.)
  • Record yourself once or twice a week.(Nehmen Sie sich ein- bis zweimal pro Woche auf.)
  • Repeat the same sentence several times.(Wiederholen Sie denselben Satz mehrmals.)
  • Concentrate on one feature at a time.(Konzentrieren Sie sich jeweils auf ein Merkmal.)
  • Choose clarity before speed.(Achten Sie zuerst auf Deutlichkeit, dann auf Tempo.)
